TMS for Depression - One Patient's Journey

Wave Treatment Centers

Jonathan Beatty • Dec 16, 2022

Hi I'm Dan, my family nursery. Some of the problems that led me to seek TMS treatment were definitely depression and anxiety. I was seeing different doctors for six, seven years, probably a dozen different psychiatrists. They've all had their own game plan their own medication that they would try and come up with. I have been on medications for probably 12 years, you take a pill, it goes into your system, it can go anywhere, eventually, it's some gonna go up to your brain where it needs to work. Yeah, you have no idea where it's going, or what it's doing. With TMS, it's directly targeted at the area that needs to be addressed. Therefore, it makes sense that you wouldn't have to experience anything, you know, wild and crazy on the side. found Dr. Beatty, look at his info checked out his background, everything for me checked out. So I gave him a call. And very glad I did. I liked the fact that he was younger, very organized, very well spoken. You actually sit down and talk to him, instead of sit down and being spoken to, which for me, was everything. Didn't find that with any other doctors.

So leading up to the therapy, it was a question of do I want to try a different medication and deal with its own list of side effects? Or do I want to try something new, that has very little side effects, and had a pretty good chance of working. So I looked into it.

The treatment was 26 minutes long, five days a week for six weeks. So it's a commitment. But for me, it was worth doing the actual treatment. Obviously, the first day, you're scared to death, you have no idea what it's going to feel like the process itself was super easy. You just sit there, there's no pain feels like a mild massage. And then you're done.

So I started to see results, probably about halfway through. And whenever I would talk to Dr. Beatty, I would always say, I'm not sure what's going on. But I'm processing stuff differently. My thoughts seem a little slower. And that was great. So I went with it. Finishing the treatment the two main symptoms that I was trying to work on, was breaking down at night -- just crying -- and the physical sensations that come with anxiety, stomach dropping out, cold sweats, shaking, knock on wood...it wasn't I woke up one day, and it was all gone. Over the course of a couple of weeks, it seems like they don't exist.

The treatment completely changed relationships that I had personal professional. And when my parents that's both because I work with them. I live next to him. So they've seen the good, the bad, the ugly. And now it's a good.

Every doctor that he went to see said we're missing something. The only doctor that seemed to believe and turned out did believe in Danny follow them through getting them off all the medicines that the different doctors had put them on. They seem to be throwing darts at a board to try medicine for this and that. But it was never simple medicine. It was medicine that he had to taper off. Dr. Beatty was there by his side the whole time, giving them the support and we finally could then trust a doctor.

With working out here especially being organized is huge. Being on top of your schedule and other people's schedule is huge. When those side effects of depression and anxiety, you know creep in, it can cripple you sometimes. So the fact that I've overcome those, I'm gonna say day to day, everything's just improving and different aspects of my life seem like they're falling more into place. I can actually feel excited smile in a picture. That's huge.

It's been an incredible transition. After so many doctors said we're missing something. But Dr. Beatty was right there guiding them through it. And and it took a while. It was not an overnight thing by any means. But we've got Danny back.
